Are you burnt out coming to end of year?

End of year burnout can be affecting your fat loss goals

How to determine if you're burnt out and what to do to recover

Hey Reader,

Do you:

  • Wake up tired even though you've slept 7+ hours?
  • Smash coffee after coffee to get you through the day?
  • Feel easily agitated, anxious or annoyed?
  • Get sick more often than usual?
  • Crave sugar and snacks often?
  • Find yourself counting down the weeks until end of year office shut down?

You're not alone, I've felt this in years pass. When my burnout was at its absolute high. I had been managing life changes plus a major digital transformation project at work with little resources and a lot of expectations.

I struggled to have the motivation or energy to continue training the way I used to, or prep and eat cleaner meals. I turned to quick comfort food and laying in bed to get myself through the day.

Your ability to lose fat can be connected to how burnt out you are at work (and in life).

When you're constantly stressed, your body releases cortisol - the stress hormone that:

  • Slows your metabolism
  • Breaks down muscle and impedes recovery
  • Messes with your other hormones
  • Increases your cravings
  • Weakens your immune system

It's what stagnated my fat loss journey.

Sometimes it may feel like, no matter what you've tried and how long you've been 'dieting' for - it just doesn't seem to work for your body.

You think to yourself, maybe you need to try a different diet or training plan?

But you haven't stopped to consider that stress or cortisol could be the reason behind your stagnation.

Don't get me wrong.
The goal isn't zero cortisol.
It's balanced cortisol.

If this sounds like you, it's time to fix your stress levels before you change your plan again.

Take the time over the next few weeks to find ways to de-stress and recover.
đź’› Prioritise joy and alignment.
đź’Ş Swap HIIT for strength training and walking.
🥦 Eat enough protein and more wholefoods.
🙏 Implement daily stress relieving activities such as journaling, breathwork and setting boundaries.

Because fat loss isn't just about eating less...
It's about letting your body feel safe again.

Slow down to speed up Your body doesn’t just need movement - it needs moments of rest. Hey love, I’ve been walking on average 20,000 steps a day, eating ramen, and wandering through streets with no real agenda in Japan. No stress. And it hit me - this is the first time in a long time I’ve slowed down enough to release myself of the daily stressors of life. If I missed the train, all good - another one is on the way.If I didn’t get to Kyoto by 3pm, all good - I’ll get there eventually that...

Now I travel with confidence Eat the food. Take the photo. Enjoy your body. Hey love, A year ago, when I was burnt out from work and not training or eating well, my body was bloated, inflamed, and a few kilos heavier. I used to hate travel and shopping trips. I didn’t want to be on a beach in a bikini or wander through stores with bright lights and mirrors, buying clothes a size up from what I used to wear (that’s just not a nice feeling). But this week, wandering through Tokyo, I noticed...

I can't believe I lost 2kg in 3 weeks From traveling through the USA of all places! Before I headed to the US for work, I was on track with my nutrition. I had my meals planned out throughout the day. I was on autopilot with my prep and food. Knowing what we know about food in the US - large sizes, highly processed - I was expecting the worse. I was certain I'd gain weight from this trip. I accepted this outcome. I accepted it - because although I have my day to day routine, holidays and new...
