Are you burnt out coming to end of year?

End of year burnout can be affecting your fat loss goals

How to determine if you're burnt out and what to do to recover

Hey Reader,

Do you:

  • Wake up tired even though you've slept 7+ hours?
  • Smash coffee after coffee to get you through the day?
  • Feel easily agitated, anxious or annoyed?
  • Get sick more often than usual?
  • Crave sugar and snacks often?
  • Find yourself counting down the weeks until end of year office shut down?

You're not alone, I've felt this in years pass. When my burnout was at its absolute high. I had been managing life changes plus a major digital transformation project at work with little resources and a lot of expectations.

I struggled to have the motivation or energy to continue training the way I used to, or prep and eat cleaner meals. I turned to quick comfort food and laying in bed to get myself through the day.

Your ability to lose fat can be connected to how burnt out you are at work (and in life).

When you're constantly stressed, your body releases cortisol - the stress hormone that:

  • Slows your metabolism
  • Breaks down muscle and impedes recovery
  • Messes with your other hormones
  • Increases your cravings
  • Weakens your immune system

It's what stagnated my fat loss journey.

Sometimes it may feel like, no matter what you've tried and how long you've been 'dieting' for - it just doesn't seem to work for your body.

You think to yourself, maybe you need to try a different diet or training plan?

But you haven't stopped to consider that stress or cortisol could be the reason behind your stagnation.

Don't get me wrong.
The goal isn't zero cortisol.
It's balanced cortisol.

If this sounds like you, it's time to fix your stress levels before you change your plan again.

Take the time over the next few weeks to find ways to de-stress and recover.
💛 Prioritise joy and alignment.
💪 Swap HIIT for strength training and walking.
🥦 Eat enough protein and more wholefoods.
🙏 Implement daily stress relieving activities such as journaling, breathwork and setting boundaries.

Because fat loss isn't just about eating less...
It's about letting your body feel safe again.

Inside the True Wellness Transformation Project, we focus on:

  1. Mindset - motivation, goal setting, values and beliefs
  2. Habits - daily actions that actually add up for sustainable change
  3. Nutrition - education around nutrition and flexible eating plan
  4. Training - focus on strength training, building muscle and confidence in the gym

Because as a corporate professional myself, I know how burnout can derail your health and fitness goals. Let me help you on that journey.

When it comes to health and fitness, age does matter. Hey Reader, I've recently entered my 40s and a lot of my clients are in their 30s or 40s. What I've noticed is what used to work in your teens or 20s, just doesn't work as well in your 30s and 40s. There are a lot of reasons for that, but as a coach, I am so over the rhetoric of 'calories in and calories out'. Although for the most part it still stands, there are external and internal factors that affect how your body loses weight and fat...

My first week back reminded me why last year nearly broke me Hey Reader, I just finished my first week back at work, you know what that means. Back to meetings, emails, decisions, context switching, and that feeling of being “on” all day. Thankfully it hasn't picked up fully just yet. And honestly? It brought something into focus for me. The weeks off didn’t just help me rest and reset. They helped me realise how burnt out I actually was last year. When you’re in it - juggling work, training,...

When you want something bad enough... ...you'll make it happen. Hey Reader, It's the first official day of holiday break - since the company I work for goes into 2 weeks of forced shut down over the holiday New Year period. A part of me wants to chill out and relax, and the other part has a burning desire to use the time I have now - away from my 9 to 5 - to focus on my 5 to 9 coaching business. I started with going for a walk to get sunlight into my eyes. It's what I advise my clients do...
