🎄December survival guide (without losing your mind or your goals)

🎄December survival guide

...without losing your mind or your goals.

Hey Reader,

The festive month is here!

Every time December rolls around, I feel like the air gets lighter (probably because the weather is much sunnier in Sydney around this time as well).

And even though you may still have year end to close at work, business case submissions, chasing down the final 2025 sales targets, securing your bonuses and commissions...

...it still feels lighter to me. Do you feel it too?

The client, work, family, friends Christmas events start to pop up. I bet your calendar is already full every weekend, up until NYE.

So let’s be real - this month isn’t about perfection.
It’s about maintenance, mindfulness, and moments that matter.

Enjoy them with your loved ones!

Here are a few things I remind both myself (and my clients) every December 👇

Keep the non negotiables.

  • Try and keep the basics like training 3x a week.
In fact, I encourage you train after the big caloric injection from some of these events. Really take the opportunity to build some muscle with those excess calories.
  • Keep your steps up.
3x15 min walk after each main meal will help regulate your blood sugar levels and keep your activity up. Aim for 10k steps a day.
  • Aways take a protein first approach!
Fill up your plate with protein and vegetables first.

Enjoy the events - without guilt.

  • Be in the moment.
Enjoy the time and company with your family, friends and colleagues. Celebrate the year and make some memories.
  • You can have a cocktail or two!
It's probably been a rough and long year. You can let your hair down but if you'd like my advice.
Here are my go to options: vodka soda, gin and diet tonic or a white wine spritzer.
  • Protect your energy and peace.
Don't feel obliged to say yes to every event, if you need the break or if you don't think the event will bring you joy - give it a miss. Leave space for quiet mornings, walks, or doing absolutely nothing!

It is so important we also take the opportunity at the end of the year to rest, reset and get ready for a new year.

I always like to take the time to think about all my accomplishments for the year and start to think about what I'd like to focus on and achieve in the following year.

Some questions that might help..

What worked well in 2025?
What DON'T I want to carry into 2026?
What am I finally ready to let go of?

This season isn’t a test of discipline, it’s an invitation to practice balance.
Say connected to your body, your values, and yourself.

✨ Breathe. Eat the pavlova. Lift something heavy. Take a nap.

Here’s to a grounded and guilt-free December 💕

I hope this helps you prepare for a fun and relaxing December!

When it comes to health and fitness, age does matter. Hey Reader, I've recently entered my 40s and a lot of my clients are in their 30s or 40s. What I've noticed is what used to work in your teens or 20s, just doesn't work as well in your 30s and 40s. There are a lot of reasons for that, but as a coach, I am so over the rhetoric of 'calories in and calories out'. Although for the most part it still stands, there are external and internal factors that affect how your body loses weight and fat...

My first week back reminded me why last year nearly broke me Hey Reader, I just finished my first week back at work, you know what that means. Back to meetings, emails, decisions, context switching, and that feeling of being “on” all day. Thankfully it hasn't picked up fully just yet. And honestly? It brought something into focus for me. The weeks off didn’t just help me rest and reset. They helped me realise how burnt out I actually was last year. When you’re in it - juggling work, training,...

When you want something bad enough... ...you'll make it happen. Hey Reader, It's the first official day of holiday break - since the company I work for goes into 2 weeks of forced shut down over the holiday New Year period. A part of me wants to chill out and relax, and the other part has a burning desire to use the time I have now - away from my 9 to 5 - to focus on my 5 to 9 coaching business. I started with going for a walk to get sunlight into my eyes. It's what I advise my clients do...
