Maybe you SHOULDN'T give a F*ck

Hello Reader,

My new years goal was to read more and I have been honouring that by reading at least 10 minutes each night.

If you knew me when I was younger (in my teens), I was SO AGAINST reading.

I used to think, if I have time (or tbh any interest) to read, I'd be better off reading a text book (the Asian mentality was to get ahead in the sciences..)

Then in my 20s, I tried reading on the train during my commutes to work.

The first few books I remember reading (which were suggestions by a bf at the time) was:

  • The Power of One - Bryce Courtenay
  • The Pact - Jodi Picoult (ok this one I chose)
  • Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
  • The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams

I loved these books!

But every time I tried reading, I would quickly fall asleep. It just wasn't my thing.

In my 30s, I went through the heartbreak and burnout and read for self development and to heal.

I'm sharing this because sometimes you can feel very alone or lost and that no-one really understands the struggles you go through. Or you think you want to tackle it alone.

I feel books can really give you that perspective or mindset shift needed sometimes to get out from the depths and trenches.

I wanted to share some of the books I read this past month, that I highly recommend if you need some support and inspiration.

My January reads were:

  • The mountain is you - Brianna Wiest
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck - Mark Manson

These books can be transformational. If I had to put it in one sentence for each.

  • The Mountain Is YouYour biggest obstacles aren’t external - they’re the patterns, fears, and self-sabotage you haven’t yet faced or released.
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ckLife improves when you stop trying to please everyone and start choosing what’s actually worth your energy and care.

The key message I took from both books is that most of our pain comes from how we respond to life, not what life throws at us.

So maybe... you need to review and decide what you actually SHOULDN'T give a F*ck about. And feel free to let me know what that is by replying to this email.

If you need any book suggestions - those are mine.

Or if you'd like to have a chat about your challenges and how I can help. You can also reach out to me through the link below.

Enjoy the read!

So instead of taking action, we stay in the comfort of thinking, researching, and waiting. We read the books. We listen to the podcasts. We follow the right people online. We tell ourselves we’re learning and improving. And on...
